The Metapallet is a new approach to unitization and containerization, a breakthrough in logistics that can exploit other new technologies to create economies in every category of economic life.
Economic opportunities related to manufacturing, distribution, storage, agriculture and real estate development are first, but social impacts are potentially greater as our society adopts new ways of life, changing our priorities to live longer as our networks of communities expand into orbital or deep space and subterranean tunnel and cavern systems.
Below is a photo of the Air Force 463L pallet, designed to work. with the cargo aircraft as shown. It is an aluminum frame with an aluminum skin over a balsa wood interior. It is amazingly tough as you can see from this photo. It is much bigger that what is proposed for the Metapallet, which would span the four sets of rollers, but not extend past them more than a couple of inches. The 463L does not have a provision for forklifts, instead the AF uses wood blocks or bolsters with the forklifts, thus saving space and weight on the aircraft.
